Combined units: condensation and adsorption
In case that solvents have to be treated which are only available in relatively small concentration or which have unfavorable saturation curves, it may be economical to concentrate the complete exhaust air flow before condensation or to clean it after condensation. Then, the highly concentrated desorption flow is led into the condensation unit. Due to the reduction of the air amounts which have to be cooled, the single components of the cooling can be dimensioned significantly smaller which leads to lower investment costs and increases the efficiency of the condensation.
In order to separate Isopropanol from a pharmaceutical production process, different volume flows are concentrated and then cooled in a three-stage process. The refrigerators are redundant and carried out with cold recovery.
