R. Scheuchl GmbH honoured with the "BMW Supplier Innovation Award"

The BMW Group has honoured the internationally active R. Scheuchl GmbH with the coveted “Supplier Innovation Award 2013” for the development of the so-called arc wire spraying process. The award, presented for the second time this year, was given in seven categories. Several hundred suppliers of the BMW Group took part in the event. Scheuchl won the prize in the “Productivity” category.
The award was accepted on 18 April 2013 at the BMW Welt in Munich by the managing directors Richard Scheuchl, Ulf Scheuchl and Dr. Udo Dinglreiter. The award was presented by Dr. Johann Wieland, Head of the Purchasing and Supplier Network Powertrain division. “We are very proud and of course delighted about this recognition,” announced Ulf Scheuchl. “The Scheuchl company received the award, but it was won by our team with all our employees who work on the projects every day with great commitment and a lot of energy,” the three managing directors said unanimously.
Innovations create the future, and it is precisely these innovations that are especially recognised as part of this award. With the arc wire spraying process, a very thin steel layer is applied directly to the aluminium running surfaces in crankcases. This layer is significantly lighter than the previous steel liner, thereby reducing weight and consumption. The process was developed, tested and brought to series maturity in many years of close cooperation with the BMW Group.
