Inorganic Core Sand Reclamation

Reclamation of inorganic core sand: modular plants from R. Scheuchl GmbH reduce new-sand demand, landfill and transport costs with high plant reliability.

Core Sand Application

Reclamation of Inorganic Core Sand

Inorganically bonded core sands require specialised reclamation methods that differ from processes for organically bonded sand cores. For ecological reasons, reprocessing and reuse are necessary when switching to inorganic binders. An economically viable process, however, requires an effective reclamation method.

Based on extensive experience in mechanical engineering and process engineering, R. Scheuchl GmbH supported a major Bavarian automobile manufacturer with this changeover. The jointly developed process enables effective and economical sand reclamation and is now used for further renowned automobile manufacturers and foundries.

Modular Plant Components

Depending on requirements, core sand reclamation plants consist of:

  • Sand conveying technology
  • Multi-stage Scheuchl reclamation process
  • Cooling
  • Dust extraction
  • Integrated energy recovery
  • Control technology
  • Integrated sand preheating
  • Cooling water treatment
  • Sand classification
  • Steel construction

Through the use of these plants, the demand for new sand drops considerably – new sand is only required to compensate for losses. This reduces procurement, transport and landfill costs.

Advantages at a Glance

  • Reduction of landfill costs
  • Considerable reduction of the required amount of new sand
  • Reduction of the amount of waste
  • Lower transport costs
  • Relief of traffic routes
  • High plant reliability
