Richard Scheuchl celebrates his 80th birthday – steps down from management

Ortenburg. Richard Scheuchl, one of the great entrepreneurial personalities in the district, has handed over the management of the company R. Scheuchl GmbH, which he built up, on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Both were celebrated at a hotel in Bad Griesbach.
District Administrator Franz Meyer honoured the celebrant by presenting the Baptist Kitzlinger Plaque in gold. He paid tribute to Scheuchl as a “pioneer of economic development in the Passau region”, as a “formative personality of our homeland and of all Bavaria”. Richard Scheuchl is indeed a native Lower Bavarian, but his professional career began in Munich. In 1961 he became self-employed with a two-square-metre workshop in the basement. He built switch boxes and his first automatic control system was created on the living-room table. After a few years, Scheuchl hired his first employees. The company, which is active in the fields of process engineering, environmental protection, plant engineering and mechanical engineering, grew continuously and currently employs 160 people. Over the years, more than 20 million euros have been invested in buildings alone in Dorfbach – machines come on top of that.
Richard and Thea Scheuchl have two children. Son Ulf joined the management in 1994. In 2000, Dr. Udo Dinglreiter joined with the acquisition of shareholder stakes. However, Richard Scheuchl does not want to retire entirely just yet. At the company SKH, which researches and develops products at the University of Regensburg, he is still managing director. “There I’m still allowed to let off a bit of steam,” he says with a laugh.
