Automation of a Complete Lost Foam Casting Plant

Overview
R. Scheuchl GmbH carried out a comprehensive modernization of an existing lost foam casting plant. The project included the expansion with specialized units and the integration of additional functions into the production system.
Implemented Components and Functions
- Feeding and application of cooling plates onto EPS models
- Insertion of the EPS models (including cooling plates) into sand containers
- Removal of the cast casting cluster (double casting) with cooling plates
- Lifting of the cooling plates off the casting cluster
- Desanding unit for the casting cluster
- Quenching of the casting cluster in water tanks
- Transfer to the customer-supplied cut-off saw
- Discharge of contaminated cooling plates by means of a shuttle system
- Cooling plate cleaning with robot-guided rotary brushes
- Cooling plate cooling and measurement (flatness inspection)
- Buffer system for various cooling plate types
- Interlinking of the entire cooling plate logistics (linear axes and shuttle)
