Reference project

Project Description

The decoring cell demonstrates the “integration of various decoring machines from R. Scheuchl GmbH into a fully automated machining line” for a Bavarian automobile manufacturer. Via a lift, different versions of 3-, 4- and 6-cylinder crankcases are conveyed into the cell.

The process comprises two steps:

  1. Pre-decoring station: sand cores are first broken
  2. Main decoring: a robot positions the crankcases on Shake Champions 165 PSP R, where they are freed from the core sand by vibratory decoring

After decoring, a shuttle transports the parts to the downstream machining.

Technical Data

  • Pre-decoring station: 2 casting fixtures, 3 traversable hammer consoles with 5 core-breaking hammers
  • Main decoring station: 2× SC 165 PSP R, each with 2 pivoting hammers
  • Machined parts: 3-, 4-, 6-cylinder crankcases with double casting
  • Cycle time: 24 seconds
  • Degree of automation: full automation with robot
  • Sand discharge: sand guide plates and vibrating conveyor troughs
