Combined Systems: Condensation and Adsorption

For the treatment of solvents with low concentration or unfavourable saturation curves, a combination of processes can be economically worthwhile. The strategy is to concentrate the entire exhaust air stream before condensation or to post-clean it after condensation. The highly concentrated desorption stream is then fed into the condensation plant.
Advantages of the Combined Solution
By reducing the quantity of air to be cooled, the cooling components can be made significantly smaller, which leads to lower acquisition costs and higher condensation efficiency.
Practical Application Example
For the separation of isopropanol from a pharmaceutical production process, variable volume flows are first concentrated and then cooled in three stages. The deep-freezers are of redundant design and equipped with cold recovery.
